Hero Combo Academy — Seasons 1–5
Build the best trio you can actually use — one Shieldbearer, one Bomber and one Shooter — based on your unlocked season and battle role.
The formation rule
Every trio must contain three different classes. You cannot run two Shooters, two Bombers or two Shieldbearers in the same formation.
How to choose a combo
A combo is three heroes whose mechanics work together. Three individually strong heroes are only a lineup.
Recommended starting combos
These are role-aligned starting points. Matchups and tested skill interactions can make an older hero better than a newer one.
Maximum offensive pressure. Ada is the multi-hit engine; test Ryuichi against Whisper for your account.
Alt: Tyron + Whisper + Ada
Counter-attack defense: Marcus absorbs Basic Attack pressure, Lee exposes the enemy to Tactical Damage, Drake delivers the Tactical hit.
Tank alt: Marcus + Lanchester + Drake
Full Solo-role trio. Edwin is the centerpiece and becomes more dangerous when outnumbered.
Clean S4 rally setup. Test Mireya as the Shooter alternative when you want a more offensive Lethality profile.
Alt: Tyron + Ryuichi + Mireya
Broad S4 defense: Zoltan covers mixed incoming damage, Lanchester tanks, and Drake adds defensive Tactical pressure.
Role-aligned Solo setup before Edwin. Veronica adds a chance-based damage-taken interaction.
First strong S3 rally trio. Mireya remains worth testing if her Lethality-focused profile fits your stats better.
Alt: Tyron + Whisper + Mireya
Highest-season fully role-matched defensive trio through Season 3.
Alt: Caesar + Lanchester + Inata
Season 3 is the first point where a complete pure-Solo trio is available across all three classes.
A complete role-aligned rally trio using heroes available by Season 2.
Alt: Tyron + Vivian + Devillian
Season 2 unlocks the first complete role-aligned defensive trio.
Season 1 already provides a complete Rally trio: one hero from every class.
No complete pure-role trio exists at this season for the selected mode. Use a temporary filler and avoid over-investing until the missing class unlocks.

Rally / Cage
Tyron remains relevant because no newer Rally Shieldbearer appears in the S1–S5 pool shown here.
Defense / Garrison
Defense becomes matchup-based at high seasons. Marcus is stronger into Basic Attack pressure; Zoltan may remain preferable against mixed damage; Lanchester can still beat Lee when pure tanking is the goal.
Solo
Phoenix remains relevant through Season 5 because the available list contains no newer dedicated Solo Shieldbearer.
Newer does not automatically mean better
Once your lineup is role-correct, the next question is the matchup. A Season 4 hero can outperform a Season 5 hero when its damage reduction, debuff, trigger pattern or damage type directly counters the enemy.
Basic Attack-heavy enemy → Marcus becomes extremely valuable. Mixed Basic + Critical + Tactical pressure → Zoltan may provide broader protection.
